Coaching For business school careers teams

I have spent twenty years inside business school careers work: at Harvard Business School, and now as an associate to Imperial Business School, where I am currently Interim Head of Full-Time MBA Careers, and to Cambridge Judge Business School. I know the recruiting calendar and what October does to a careers team. I also know the difference between a student with a plan and a student with a story.

I work with careers teams in three ways.

Workshops

Two workshops, designed and delivered by me, run across MBA, Executive MBA and Master in Finance cohorts. Both rest on the same premise: interviews and networking go better when you can tell a thoughtful version of your own story.

Own Your Story: Preparing for Senior Interviews

Delivered at Imperial Business School. Senior panels want a candidate who can account for themselves, and memorised answers give them away. Students leave with a working narrative of their career so far and a method for the questions they fear.

Networking as a Practice

Delivered at Cambridge Judge Business School for MBA, Executive MBA and MFin cohorts. Most students treat networking as a performance and resent it. This workshop treats it as a practice of curiosity and reciprocity, gives students a structure for the conversations that lead to offers, and sends them out with three specific asks to make that week.

In development: Salary Negotiation for Women.

Speaking

Talks and panel sessions on identity in career transition and on the MBA year as a threshold. Suited to orientation weeks, careers conferences, women in leadership series and alumni events.tepping into a new role, re-evaluating their path, returning after a period of change, or seeking a clearer sense of who they are becoming.

1:1 coaching for students and alumni

Blocks of coaching for a cohort, or for individual students in senior or career-change searches, on campus or online.

Typical briefs: interview preparation for senior and career-change candidates, career vision work for Executive MBAs, and coaching for the students a careers team has run out of hours for.

Schools I have worked with: Harvard Business School, Imperial Business School, Cambridge Judge Business School, NYU Wagner.

Workshops are built to your brief and followed by a debrief with your team. While I hold the interim role at Imperial I book school work a term ahead, so the earlier the conversation the better.

Workshops and coaching blocks are priced per day, half-day or cohort. Get in touch to talk about what your students need this year.
